Family run, trading since 2021

Pest control in Newcastle, done by technicians who care
Nathan Rich owns Benefit Pest Management with his wife, Gabbie Mooney.
He got into the trade at 22 in Dubbo, on a two-year traineeship, on the tools the whole way. The two of them started Benefit in 2021. Both houses he grew up in had termites, and the first time around his mother was told everything was fine by the bloke who came out to look. It was not fine, and the family found out the expensive way.
That is why our inspections are thorough and our reports are detailed. The full story is on our about page.
issued by the New South Wales EPA. The licence belongs to the technician rather than the business, so the number on this page is his.

You'll know who's coming, when they're coming, and exactly what we found
Booking a tradesperson usually means giving up a morning and hoping they will show up.
We book a time and we keep it. If you have arranged to be home, or taken an hour off work to be there, that arrangement is ours to honour.
Here is exactly what happens once you book:
You get told when the service is booked.
You get a reminder the day before.
You get instructions on how to get the place ready.
You get a text when we are an hour away.
About nine in ten of our reviews mention the communication as well as the pest work.

★★★★★We were recommended Nathan from our Conveyancer and we could not have been more impressed. His punctuality, communication, effort and efficiency was of a high standard.
★★★★★Nathan at Benefit Pest Management recently checked our house for termites and sprayed for insects. We received a full termite report and were very satisfied with the lack of bugs after the service. Being such a wet summer there were more creepy crawlies than usual and I did not want them in the house especially with a newborn.
Tell the next person how it went. A review helps them decide, and it helps us more than you would think.
What we treat
Termites and timber pests
Termites are our specialty and the bulk of our work. The damage is structural, it happens out of sight, and standard home insurance does not cover the repair.
Termite control
Work out which species is active and where it is getting in, then deal with the colony rather than the termites you can see.
Termite inspections
The whole property, subfloor to roof void, with thermal imaging and moisture detection included as standard.
Termite treatment
Chemical barriers, reticulation systems and direct work on whatever is living in the building right now.
Baiting systems
Stations the colony finds, feeds on and carries home. The option that eliminates a colony rather than blocking it.
White ants
White ants are termites. The name is wrong, it has stuck for a century, and it is still what most people call them.
Borers & timber beetles
Most of what people find is old and inactive. We separate live borer from termite damage and treat only where it is warranted.
By the pest you've got
Cockroaches, ants, spiders, silverfish and rodents, inside and out, with a six month warranty on general treatments.
Inspections
Annual termite checks, pre-purchase inspections for buyers, and general property inspections. Thermal imaging and moisture detection are included in every termite inspection.
Pest inspections
Three kinds: annual termite checks, pre-purchase timber pest inspections, and general property inspections.
Pre-purchase inspections
Whether the property you are about to buy has termites, borers or other timber pests, and what damage is already done.
Thermal imaging
Shows where a wall is warmer or damper than it should be. A detection aid, not an X-ray, and included at no extra charge.
Prevention and proofing
Sealing the gaps, drying out the subfloor and keeping birds off the roof, so there is less to treat next time.
Integrated pest management
Fix what is attracting them before anything gets sprayed.
Subfloor ventilation
Dry out the space under the house, so it stops being somewhere termites want to be.
Bird proofing
Keep them off the roofline, out of the eaves and away from the solar panels.
Fumigation
For the jobs a surface spray cannot reach.
Every service we provide is on our pest control services page.
Yes, once it is dry, which can be as quick as 30 to 45 minutes. We use water-based products rather than solvent-based ones, which keeps the odour down and avoids staining. We tarp veggie patches, chook pens and fish ponds before we start, and we cover pet food and water bowls. Keep cats and dogs away until it has dried. If you are pregnant or immunocompromised, or you would simply rather not be around it, head out for a few hours.

Fix what is bringing them in, then treat what is left
Most pest problems have a cause you can point at: a blocked gutter, a damp subfloor, a garden bed sitting over the weep holes. Spray around that and you have treated the symptom. The cause is still there, and so is next year’s problem.
Integrated pest management is the industry name for doing it the other way around. Work out what is attracting them. Take it away. Seal what is letting them in. Then treat what is left, with the smallest amount of product that will do the job.
On a food site that matters because an auditor wants to see a method rather than a spray schedule. On a house it matters for a simpler reason: a treatment that holds costs less than one you pay for twice.
Most of that work is not spraying at all, so we run it as its own service.
Lower odour, no staining, safe once dry
The treatment itself, inside and out.
Blocked gutters hold water and rotting leaf litter, which is exactly what draws them in.
We clean the windows after we spray, so you are not left looking at the marks.
Webs off the eaves, the roofline and the corners nobody can reach.
Cleans the surface so the treatment bonds to it properly, and the paths come up looking new.
The cracks they are actually walking through.
Getting soil levels back down off the weep holes, one of the biggest termite risks on a suburban block.
One team, multiple solutions, a better home.
Who we look after
Homeowners who have creepy crawlies
A cockroach at night, ants across the bench, or a spider nobody in the house will go near. One visit covers inside and out.
Owners protecting the house itself
Your insurance does not cover termite damage, and the Australian Standard sets twelve months between inspections.
Businesses that have to prove it
Pubs, clubs, cafes, schools, childcare and food processing, on scheduled programmes with a site register your staff write into.
Rural properties and farms
The homestead, the sheds, fence posts and tree nests, all in one visit.
Pest control across Newcastle and the Hunter
We work Newcastle and Lake Macquarie daily, and run scheduled days north through the Hunter and south into the Central Coast.
There is no call-out fee anywhere in that region, because days are booked by area rather than by whoever rang first. Every suburb we cover is on the service areas page.

Why people call us back
The reason is not just the spray. It is our care before and after it.
A woman about a year from retiring had her house inspected by another company and was told everything was fine. She did not believe it, and she decided to get a second opinion. We found roughly $80,000 of damage that had been walked past. She had to refinance, and by her own estimate she will work about another six years to cover it.
That job is why we would rather lose a booking than rush one.
Kayla C., Localsearch
Turning down a day’s work because rain would ruin the result is a small decision. It also decides whether the treatment holds, or whether you pay for it twice.

And send you instructions on how to get the place ready.
We turn up and do the work
On the day and at the time we said.
You get a written report
Setting out what we found, what we treated, and anything that needs your attention.
General treatments carry a six month warranty, provided the preparation and after-care advice is followed.
Pest control questions we get asked every week
Do you do free quotes?
Yes, and free advice with it. If the answer is that you do not need the work, that is what you will be told.
How quickly will you get back to me?
Within one business day, every time. How soon we can be on site depends on where you are and the time of year, and you will get a real date on the phone rather than an optimistic one.
Do you work weekends?
Seven days. Weekdays from 5am, Saturdays from 8am and Sundays from 9am, so most people never need to take time off work.
Do you cover my suburb?
Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter and the Central Coast. The full list is on the service areas page. Not on it? Ring and ask.
How much does pest control cost?
It depends on the property and the job, so we quote each one rather than publishing a figure. There is no call-out fee and the price is fixed before anything starts. What moves it up or down is on our services page.
How often should I get a termite inspection?
At least every twelve months, which is what the Australian Standard sets. In a high-pressure area, along the coast or anywhere with high humidity, we recommend every six months. More on termite inspections.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Our head technician holds pest management technician licence 5083379 with the New South Wales EPA. We carry $10 million public liability and we are members of the Australian Environmental Pest Managers Association.
Found something you would rather not have found?
Tell us what you have seen and we can help you!
A quote costs nothing, and neither does the advice.
