Pest control in Port Stephens
Port Stephens is the top right corner of the area we work. The nearer end is Raymond Terrace, and the run finishes at Nelson Bay, where we already have clients.
Across the council’s 979 square kilometres, most people live in and around Raymond Terrace or near the shores of the port. Many of the rest are on rural and semi-rural land west of the Pacific Highway.

Holiday houses, rentals and everything else

The ute at a strata complex, on a routine termite inspection and spray of fifteen dwellings.
A holiday house that is shut up between visits should have a termite inspection before anything else on this list.
Moving out of a long-term rental around Raymond Terrace? Book end of lease pest control before the final inspection. The treatment comes with a certificate the tenant can hand straight to the agent.
The general pest treatments we do in Medowie and around the shores of the port deal with cockroaches, ants, spiders, silverfish and rodents. General treatments carry a six month warranty, provided the preparation and after-care advice is followed.
For a cafe or pub on the peninsula, commercial pest control is a programme of visits booked on a set schedule. We take on holiday accommodation as well: motels, holiday parks, serviced apartments and individual holiday houses.

Termites
Termite inspections in Nelson Bay and Port Stephens
The eastern boundary of Nelson Bay lies inside Tomaree National Park. A house near that edge of town has bush on the doorstep, which is reason enough to inspect for termites more often than the twelve-month maximum in AS 3660.2, the Australian Standard for termite management in existing buildings.
In a high-pressure area, along the coast or anywhere with high humidity, we recommend every six months. The shorter interval counts for more in a house that sits empty between visits, where a colony can work for months with nobody around to see the signs.
Thermal imaging and moisture detection are included in every termite inspection. The moisture meter finds the damp that drew a colony in, before the timber shows it.
Our termite inspections page sets out what the inspection covers and what goes in the report.

Do we get to Port Stephens often?
Regularly, whichever end of Port Stephens you are in. A house with live termites in it is scheduled ahead of the routine work, holiday season or not.
For a holiday house, spring is the time for a treatment, ahead of the first guests of the season rather than squeezed in between two lots of them.
What we'll ask on the phone
Ring with the address and, if nobody lives there, who holds the key. We price most jobs on the phone, and when one needs a look first, you hear that on the same call. There is no call-out fee and the price is fixed before anything starts. We are open seven days. Our contact page has the hours.

Local questions
Port Stephens pest control, answered
Should a holiday house at Nelson Bay be inspected more often than the one we live in?
Yes, every six months. That inspection can pick up a damp subfloor or the first signs of termites while the repair is still a small one.
Can you treat a holiday let between one lot of guests and the next?
Yes, as long as we know the changeover time. Our general treatments use water-based products and can be dry in as little as 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the weather and the surface. After a morning visit, the house is normally dry and safe to walk into before an afternoon check-in. Send us the booking calendar and we will fit around it.
We're in Raymond Terrace, not on the water. Does the six-month advice still apply?
Not automatically. Away from the water, the interval comes down to the house and its site. Shorten it for an older house, a history of activity, a bush block, or a subfloor that is hard to inspect properly. We tell you which of those applies when we are there.
We're not at the house most of the year. Can you get in without us?
Yes, as long as someone local can open up: the agent, a neighbour with a key, or a key safe you give us the code for. We need the inside of the house, the roof void and the subfloor, so a side gate on its own is not enough. We ring you before we leave. The report comes by email, so nothing has to wait until you are next down.
Is a holiday house priced differently from one you live in?
Not for being a holiday house. The price comes from the size of the house, how easily we can reach the roof void and subfloor, and what is being treated. If you want it done every six months, it goes onto a regular run, and regular work shows in the price. You hear the figure before we come.
